Airbus A320 Special Cluster – The simulators in Essen:
At the Essen location, Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) offers its airline customers access to four Airbus A320 flight simulators. The training devices are operated on behalf of LAT by the company TFC. All simulators are Level-D Full Flight Simulators and certified by the German Federal Aviation Authority, and our ProFlight pilots at this location are active pilots within the Lufthansa Group.
Simulators for professionals - and you
Together with our sister company ProFlight, we offer you the exclusive opportunity to book a flight in the certified Level-D Full Flight Simulators of Lufthansa Aviation Training. Normally, airline pilots train in these professional simulators. The fully equipped cockpits, which exactly match a real aircraft cockpit, are mounted on a professional motion system and can move fully along all axes. Accelerations during takeoff, braking after landing, or turbulence during flight are perfectly simulated. You will feel every movement an aircraft would make. No prior knowledge is required, as you will be supported during your flight by experienced airline pilots.
What does a flight in the Full Flight Simulator feel like?
You are sitting in the cockpit of an airliner and forget that it’s a simulation. You push the thrust levers forward, hear the engines spool up, and feel yourself pressed into the seat by the thrust. As the wheels roll over the runway centerline lights, you feel and hear the increasing rumble and the rising speed. The retraction and locking of the landing gear are audible as a rumble before the noise level drops. You are flying!
On approach, you feel, hear, and sense the extension of the flaps and landing gear. You notice the delayed reaction of the aircraft to your control inputs — and if you happen to touch down a little roughly, hopefully it won’t be too loud a bang. Good thing you’re strapped in, because you’ll feel the reverse thrust and the brakes very clearly.
